I think, for the most part, story-centric games, are those in which the PCs are railroaded into only one course of action or the entire story is derailed. What you are referring to, a game with a story in which the playes tell the story, sort of sounds like what I'm referring to in my post above as sandbox. If the players have the ability to dictate and control their game, then it is sandbox, in my opinion, but there seems to be a common misconception, based on what I read from other blogs and forums, that a sandbox game can't have a background story going or its not sandbox. I find that notion a little unreasonable. If you are running a sandbox with the world around the characters, then by its very nature some form of story is developing around them. Unless, of course, the world is simply lifeless outside of what dungeons the party explores and what monsters they fight.RobChandlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07751057765555584823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2714025510421557056.post-45885982879828371402011-01-24T01:13:51.347-06:002011-01-24T01:13:51.347-06:00As someone who plays both styles of game, allow me...As someone who plays both styles of game, allow me to point out that GOOD story-centric games aren't about the GM telling the story, it's about the players telling stories.Dyson Logoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14352404068239792475noreply@blogger.com
