Just like room 11 not having its door on the map. I missed it completely somehow.

I approached this particular section of the dungeon as a means to really introduce new players to the game. The traps are crude and basic intentionally, and while some of the tricks can have devastating results, most are more or less survivable if the PCs use their heads. The idea for me, was this is a great way to get players used to the old school dungeon crawl. I tried to include enough material to make it flexible so a DM can incorporate some adventure seeds simply with the contents of the dungeon. For example, one of the seeds I am planning on writing out when I complete the entire project is the freeing of the kobold slaves. The kobolds will agree to fight with the PCs against the orcs but will only do so if armed. Suddenly locating and infiltrating the arms room becomes a goal as they work to equip these kobold slaves to clear the tribe out.

As to the gonzo factor, there will be some of that as well. Certain areas within the dungeon that other humanoids like orcs and goblins are afraid to venture into will have a more eccentric element with some strange tricks and denizens.

I am currently mapping out 1-3 right now, which is the area containing much of the living space of the old highborn dwarves as well as the dwarf lords hall and abandoned palace within. Hoping to get it complete by middle of next week.RobChandlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07751057765555584823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2714025510421557056.post-23166733795313355532011-07-15T10:04:57.481-05:002011-07-15T10:04:57.481-05:00My pleasure! I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the dungeon has in store!
I'm also a big believer that giving something that's passing to good a solid once over with fresh eyes and lots of questions (aka a good edit) can make it 10x better!David The Archmagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11649391406526258069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2714025510421557056.post-57258441769178042672011-07-14T14:25:23.949-05:002011-07-14T14:25:23.949-05:00Ahh gotcha on the axe thing. The axe of the dwarf lord comes into play later on down the road in the campaign/dungeon.

Yes, I could modify the map and add a small incomplete tunnel leading from area 44.

Again, thank you for taking such a detailed look at the dungeon. I hope I was able to clarify a lot. As I mentioned, when the project is complete there will be a section detailing the rooms more in depth so the DM can build an actual campaign of the entire megadungeon.RobChandlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07751057765555584823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2714025510421557056.post-53010661402199521272011-07-14T14:12:19.035-05:002011-07-14T14:12:19.035-05:00Follow up

The entire statue is stone. I should probably clarify that so it is clear to the DM.

I should have been more clear. I wasn’t asking if it was literally the same ax, but rather is it a stone carving of the ax? aka does the orc chief hold the ax that the Lord of Karazamir once used?

Where are the slaves digging their tunnels?

The tunnel itself is still very small and leads to nowhere at this point, and as such, I didn't include it on the map. Presently it is being dug out of area 44 on the map, which is listed there in the dungeon key.

Missed that. Maybe if you show a tunnel started in 44?David The Archmagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11649391406526258069noreply@blogger.com
